FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH — One person was killed and two others were injured Saturday after a crash in Fairfield Township as officers headed to a separate emergency call, police said. The collision happened on Millikin Road near Greatus Drive while Fairfield Township Police cruisers were traveling eastbound with lights and sirens on.
Police said the initial dispatch came at about 2:53 p.m. after an unconscious person was reported at an undisclosed location in the township. As several vehicles moved over to make room for the cruisers, a gray 2016 Lincoln Navigator struck the rear of a gray 2019 Acura RDX in the westbound lanes. All three people were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
How The Crash Unfolded
According to Fairfield Township police, the Lincoln was driven by a 43-year-old man. The Acura was being driven by 85-year-old Logan Stone, and his 85-year-old wife was riding in the front passenger seat. The impact caused both vehicles to spin out and leave the roadway.
Police said each vehicle later came to rest in the yards of neighboring homes along the street. The sequence of events remains under investigation, and officers have not said whether any citations or charges are expected. The department said it will release additional information as it becomes available.
Hospital Treatment And Death
Emergency crews transported the three people to University of Cincinnati Medical Center after the crash. Police later learned that Stone died at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday from injuries he suffered in the collision.
The other two people involved were reported in stable condition and continued receiving treatment. Police did not immediately release further details about the nature of their injuries. The crash added a fatal turn to what had begun as a response to an unrelated 911 call.
Road Conditions And Response
Police said officers were on their way to the earlier incident with emergency equipment activated when the crash occurred. The township response involved multiple cruisers traveling eastbound on Millikin Road, which prompted nearby drivers to move over to the side of the road.
That traffic movement is when the collision was reported near Greatus Drive. Fairfield Township Police have not said whether road conditions, speed, or driver distraction played a role. The roadway remained the focus of the inquiry as investigators worked to reconstruct what happened.
